Welcome back! We are ready for a fun and exciting school year...
It is the beginning of the school year and time for our baseline assessments. Yes, there are tests in physical education. We need to know where students are so we know what and how to teach them.
All students in grades 4, 6 and 8 must take the CT state mandated physical fitness test. The test includes a cardiovascular endurance test (P.A.C.E.R.), a flexibility test, a muscular endurance test (sit-ups) and a muscular strength test (push-ups).The students are not graded on their performance. They are encouraged to just do their best. The test is administered 3 times a year: September, January and May. Our hope is that the students improve their fitness level over time.
All students is grade K-2 must be tested in their loco motor abilities. Kindergarten: walking, running, jumping, and hopping; 1st grade: jumping, hopping, skipping, galloping; 2nd grade: skipping, galloping, leaping, sliding.
